Elaine Dutton is the Trans Care Services Manager at Mazzoni Center and one of the designated social workers on the P.A.C.T.S. ‘Pediatric & Adolescent Comprehensive Transgender Services’ program care team. They work with transgender identified patients as they consider and engage in personal, social, and medical transition by offering advocacy, counseling, education, care coordination and ongoing support. Elaine moved to Philadelphia and began working at Mazzoni Center in September 2011 after receiving an MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts.
Outside of their work at Mazzoni Center, they have maintained a psychotherapy practice for a total of four years, two of them being at Therapy Center of Philadelphia and the remaining in private practice. Elaine has experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Their approach to clinical practice is informed by relational, narrative, attachment, feminist, and psychodynamic theories. They are queer and trans/gender competent, anti-racist, social justice oriented, and holistic. Prior to graduate school, they worked in the field of sexual violence prevention as a crisis intervention counselor, educator, and community organizer.
